Can you run Rust? PC requirements and settings
Rust, by Facepunch Studios (Action, Adventure, Indie, Massively Multiplayer, RPG), came out on Steam on February 8, 2018.
Here are the official specs, and what they mean on the most common graphics cards.
Publisher's recommended cardAMD Radeon RX 6600XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, Intel Arc B580
Minimum cardAMD Radeon RX 470, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060, Intel Arc A580
Recommended RAM16 GB
Our conservative estimate60 fps at 1080p, high settings, with a GeForce RTX 5060
Estimate per graphics card
Which settings to aim for with your card
For each card: the highest settings level that stays smooth, and the expected frame-rate
range. This is a conservative estimate worked out from the publisher's recommended specs, not a
measurement: your processor, drivers and game updates move it.
Without DLSS, FSR or frame generation: turning them on raises the frame rate noticeably
when the game offers them.
Best settings
Best graphics settings for Rust by graphics card
The setting ORION's “Recommended” profile would pick to play at 60 frames per second: the
best-looking detail level that stays smooth, with upscaling when it lets you go one step up (DLSS
on GeForce RTX, XeSS on Intel Arc, FSR on other cards). If Rust doesn't offer it, use the
level from the previous table.

| GeForce GTX 1660 Super | Low + FSR Quality66–91 fps | Low + FSR Balancedcapped at 50 fps |
At these levels, ORION keeps textures on high from 8 GB of video memory (they cost memory,
hardly any frames), sets the frame cap on the target for steady pacing, turns off motion blur and
film grain, and leaves vertical sync off. This is a conservative estimate, not a measurement: in
ORION, the first measured session corrects the setting.

Questions
Rust at a glance
Which graphics card do I need for Rust at 1080p?
The publisher recommends: AMD Radeon RX 6600XT, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, Intel Arc B580. By our conservative estimate, high settings hold 60 frames per second at 1080p with a GeForce RTX 5060, and a GeForce RTX 2060 gets there with lower settings.
What are the best graphics settings for Rust on an RTX 4060?
For 60 frames per second at 1080p, ORION's “Recommended” profile would pick High + DLSS Quality settings: between 68 and 94 frames per second according to our conservative estimate.
Can I run Rust on an RTX 3060?
By our estimate, a GeForce RTX 3060 runs Rust at 1080p on medium settings, between 57 and 78 frames per second.
Can I run Rust on an RTX 4060?
By our estimate, a GeForce RTX 4060 runs Rust at 1080p on medium settings, between 66 and 91 frames per second.
How much RAM does Rust need?
The publisher recommends 16 GB of RAM (minimum: 12 GB).
How much storage does Rust take?
The official page asks for 45 GB of storage.
How are these estimates worked out?
The publisher's
recommended specs are the reference point (about 60 frames per second at 1080p on high
settings, unless the publisher says otherwise). Each card's power is compared with the
recommended card (the average when the publisher names several), then adjusted to the screen
resolution. A low margin is kept, and less video memory than recommended drops one level.
